CHASING BEAUTY: PLAYING MUSIC FROM THE SOUL

Hollyhock is an amazing place, and the perfect place to work on deeper aspects of musical connection. I was a Hollyhock founder in the early 80's and have experienced a lot of growth there. The work I will share at the workshop includes a lot of material I experienced in my twenties, in the decade I was traveling and seeking.

My experience over the last two years has shown me which of these exercises and approaches bore fruit, at least in my case, and these are the ones I will focus on. Some of these approaches can open up powerful new creative waves and bring performance anxiety into a friendlier experience.

We will also make some incredible music! Time will be spent on individual, pair and group playing, with the focus not on any technical aspect, but rather on what most musicians are after - creating beauty. I will also have the involvement of several great musician friends who will share their deeper lives in music.
