My pathway has been unusual - 20 years playing as a spiritual practice before composing two songs. I did not know at the time that it was related to my participation in the indigenous medicine ceremonies from the Amazon.

I played another thirteen years after that, with no new music. Since engaging in the ceremonies for the second time in 2004, I have experienced an unbroken wave of virtuoso composition, and a complete shift in understanding about music.

When someone asked me if playing was a pleasure, all I could say was "That's not the right word, it's more like devotion."
